I worked with Jamestown Plastics as a product management intern.
Problem space: Historically the world of thermoforming plastics is a cheaper alternative to injection molding. You might have experienced the RF sealed thermoforming plastic packaging at Christmas time when attempting to open a package that is nearly impossible to open with scissors or a knife. You know… The kind where you almost cut your hand off….
Well Jamestown Plastics wanted to create a solution which was thermoformed (Cheaper) but easy enough o open with one hand.
And.. Well we did.
Here is what I accomplished during my time with the company.
I learn how to prototype and test physical goods on real consumers. The team and I prototyped and tested different plastics, sizes and gauges till we created a package that met consumers needs in a retail environment.
-Generated a GTM strategy, and conducted cost benefit analysis to set the sizes and price structure.
– Established a UPC bar code system for retail channels Inventory management system.
– Learned how to use Blender animation to create sales and marketing materials for our websites.
